Derek Chan

Derek is the Co-founder of Canaan Lawyers and Canaan Real Estate, and was instrumental in the founding of the firm and setting its strategic direction.

As a distinguished entrepreneur, Derek possesses profound insights and knowledge about business professionals and market competition. He has been instrumental in fostering long-term and stable relationships between the firm and business professionals, clients, and community organizations.

Derek has been in Australia since 1987 and has gained a deep understanding of the challenges faced by Chinese-Australians. He founded Canaan Lawyers along with Derek Lo and has actively engaged with the Chinese community to aid their integration into local life and help them develop business opportunities. With the aim of unifying the Australian Chinese community, Derek hopes to contribute to the society and celebrate the benefits of multiculturalism.

He was the founding president of the Asian Business Association of Whitehorse and a key figure in organising and operating the Chinese New Year celebrations in Victoria. He is also the founding president of the Lions Club of Melbourne Sino Innovation Inc. and a founding member of the Australian Chinese Jockey Club.
